The club:
Was started on the 17th October 2018 and have progressed to become a venue where people can enjoy a game of Short Mat Bowls in a very friendly and social atmosphere. The game provides gentle exercise and can be enjoyed by people of all ages, we even cater for people who may have disabilities and feel, for example, they cannot bend down to deliver the bowls, there are aids that can help, so as we say all are welcome, if you don’t try you may miss out on playing a very enjoyable game and meeting like people, as well as making new friends.
Sessions :
Where : Beversbrook Sports and Community Facility, Calne.
When : Monday & Wednesday – 2pm to 4pm (exc Bank hols).
Thursday – 6-30pm to 8-30pm.
Cost. : £3 per 2 hour session
Annual membership £10 per annum due 1st November, pro rata during year.
First 3 sessions are free.
Required : to get you started all you need to bring are smooth flat shoes (no heels), all other equipment is supplied.Club woods can be used by new members for a period of 2 months while they find the size/type that suits them.
Should you require any specialised equipment we can advise you and are able to supply items for you to try, we can also supply coaching to help you enjoy your game and get settled in!
Charities :
We support local charities by raising monies during the year, by raffles and refreshment donations
So far we have given to the following charities. Which are voted for at the Clubs AGM. each year
In Addition to this we have started a 50/50 club (50% of the proceeds go to charity) in 2023/24, below is the current years number chart and list of winners.
NUMBERS FOR THE 2025/26DRAW ARE AVAILABLE AT SESSIONS IN DECEMBER. THE FIRST DRAW WILL BE ON MONDAY 22nd DECEMBER. THIS YEAR THERE WILL BE TWICE AS MANY DRAWS AS LAST YEAR. THIS WILL ENABLE US TO INCREASE BOTH OUR PRIZE MONEY AND OUR CHARITY FUND BY AN ADDITIONAL £150.
